The NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) keeps track on the causes and results of fires. They found: • An average of 21 candle-caused house fires happen each day • About 33% of candle-caused house fires start in a bedroom (frequently when someone fell asleep) • 60% of candle-caused fires happen because the candles are too close to something that catches fire easily • Candles cause 2% of home fires, and 4% of the property damage
