Did you know that between January and June the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, (CAL FIRE),  responded to over 2,043 wildfires? This number is up by 881 for fires for the same time period last year. Currently in Southern California four wildfires are burning and to date over 5,661 acres have burned. According to CAL FIRE, 95 percent of California wildfires are caused by humans and can be prevented by following these tips for preventing wildfires at home:

• When barbequing, never leave the grill unattended

• Do all yardwork before 10 a.m. to avoid yardwork on hot, dry and windy days

• Make sure you use the right tool for the job – lawnmowers are for cutting grass only
