Pacific Hurricane Predictions for 2020
According to the United States Department of Commerce National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a near, or below-normal hurricane season is predicted for the Central Pacific region. The NOAA report forecasts between two to six tropical storms, including tropical depressions, named storms, and hurricanes. Hurricanes moving through Baja California Sur are known to bring their high winds and rain to San Diego as they rotate clockwise up the coast and inland. You never know when San Diego might experience hurricane or tropical storm damage, but SERVPRO® of San Diego City SW is ready to respond to any storm damage emergency you may have. The NOAA describes some of the hazards to expect when a tropical storm hits:
- Storm surge can bring an abnormal rise in water levels due to high winds, and is the leading cause of hurricane-related deaths in the U.S.
- Flooding from heavy rains can persist for days after the storm has ended
- High winds can cause signs and items left outside to become dangerous flying missiles
- Dangerous waves can harm coastal residents and mariners
